Frequently asked questions
Clear answers about privacy, reminders, profiles, and how Medkare works.
No. Medkare stores your medication data locally on your device in a private SQLite database. We do not operate a cloud service for your day-to-day health records. The only way data leaves your device is if you choose to export a backup ZIP or share it yourself.
You can export a backup ZIP from Settings that includes your database and prescription files. You choose where to save it — iCloud, Google Drive, email, or anywhere else. Medkare does not automatically sync your data to the cloud.
Yes. Reminders are scheduled locally on your phone using local notifications. They do not require an internet connection or a Medkare account. Dose triggers are rebuilt from your schedule when you open the app.
The free tier includes one profile. Medkare+ unlocks unlimited profiles with optional PIN locks — ideal for caregivers managing a parent, child, or partner on one device.
No. Medkare helps you remember and log medications. It is not medical advice and is not a substitute for professional care. Always follow your prescriber or pharmacist. Medkare does not check drug interactions or recommend doses.
Medkare+ subscriptions are billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Medkare does not receive your payment card details. You can manage or cancel your subscription through your store account settings.
Uninstalling removes local data from your device unless your operating system keeps backups (see Apple or Google documentation). Export a backup ZIP before uninstalling if you want to keep your records.
